Teaching Philosophy
I am committed to teaching students a healthy way to handle their
voice.
My mission is to help each student maximize the potential of his or her
voice by learning to control the registers, colors, and placement,
while growing in their ability to interpret and communicate
songs. My
technique focuses on deep breathing, combined with proper body
alignment, and releasing muscle tension.
I believe that
classical vocal technique can be the foundation for any style of
singing, whether it is for opera, Broadway, folk, or pop. I have
taught students of all ages and levels and am willing to adadpt my
teaching style to meet the goals and needs of my students.
While
musical excellence is at the heart of my teaching philosophy, I feel it
should never be at the expense of the joy of learning, creating and
performing music. I long for each student to gain confidence, to
communicate a message to their audience, and to thoroughly enjoy the
gift of music.
